L.A. Metal Summit

Makuhari Messe Event Hall in Chiba, Tokyo, Japan will be the site of a groundbreaking event – the L.A. Metal Summit in Tokyo. Boasting headliners that include a former Mötley Crüe member and a reunited Ratt, the show will make for the first-ever festival focused entirely on the Hard Rock and Metal of the 80’s to take place in Japan. The current lineup for this spring festival is as follows:

May 13: Vince Neil, Tom Keifer, L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat

May 14: Ratt, Sebastian Bach, Slaughter, Enuff Z’Nuff

Faster Pussycat shared the above picture on social media that appears to possibly be a release from Live Nation. It gives a little background on the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal/Glam Metal scene that dominated the Sunset Strip in L.A. in the 80’s, then mentions that Europe and South America have always had large metal festivals, and that the US is recently seeing festivals such as M3 and Hair Nation that focus on 80’s Metal, and even an entire cruise just for the genre. The L.A. Metal Summit will be the first event of its kind as an 80’s Metal Festival in Japan.

Some bands on the lineup also have other shows going on that week in Japan, leading up to the Summit – Vince Neil and L.A. Guns will play in Osaka and Nagoya on May 9th and 11th, while Ratt and Slaughter will hit the same venues on May 10th and 12th. So far only a few bands have been announced for each festival date, but there is some small print that states “and more”, meaning this could end up being a fairly large-scale festival lineup.

If you happen to find yourself in Tokyo in May and feel like trying to reach the Summit, tickets will be going on sale on March 15th, and can be found via Live Nation Japan here.
