Hair Nation Festival

On September 17th, 2016, some of the best rockers of the Sunset Strip will gather for one night at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA for SiriusXM’s Hair Nation Festival. The event will feature a non-stop rock ‘n’ roll experience held on two stages, including a rotating main stage with back-to-back performances, VIP Meet and Greets, a vendor village, and more.

The current lineup of the festival is: Vince Neil, Bret Michaels, Kix, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slaughter, Lita Ford, Faster Pussycat, LA Guns’ Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns, Vixen, Britny Fox, BulletBoys, Loudness, Junkyard, Pretty Boy Floyd, Bang Tango, Vain, Tuff, Odin, Circus of Power, and Gabbie Rae.

The festival will be hosted by Eddie Trunk, who says: “I’m truly honored to host the first ever Hair Nation show. As a lifelong fan, friend and supporter of so many of these bands on radio and TV it’s great to see them have their own event to celebrate their decades of great music.” Headliner Vince Neil says, “I can’t wait to perform back in Southern California where it all started for me. This is a big kick ass event and I’m gonna pull out all the stops on this one. What a great lineup, in a great venue…see you in September. Be there!”

This jam-packed festival lineup will also be joined by two unsigned bands, competing for chances to open the main stage and second stage via SiriusXM’s Hair Nation Festival Battle of the Bands, taking place on August 17th right on the Sunset Strip at the Whisky A Go-Go. Battle for Hair Nation Festival is also hosted by Eddie Trunk, and features the bands Wikkid Starr, The Hard Way, The Aviators, Devil’s Only, Salem’s Lott, Evolution Eden, Velicious, and Electric Hound. The winners will be chosen by Eddie Trunk and other celebrity rock judges. Tickets and further information for the Battle of the Bands can be found at the Whisky A Go-Go Website.

Battle For Hair Nation Fest

If you can’t make it out to Orange County for this, the first-ever Hair Nation event, and one of the last events to be held at the soon to be closed historic Amphitheatre, then you can tune in to SiriusXM’s Hair Nation channel on the weekend of September 24th to hear the broadcast of performances and backstage interviews from the festival.

Limited tickets are still available (though VIP experiences are sold out) at www.hairnationfest.com. Don’t hesitate to buy yours soon and Get It While It’s Hot! The festival is sure to be Larger Than Life, while these rockers take a ride on the Wild Side and show No Mercy. As your favorite bands play the hits you love, you may be tempted to say Don’t Change That Song, but it’ll be Nothin’ But A Good Time when you’re Up All Night on this Crazy Night. Glam Metal, Hair Metal, 80’s Hard Rock – whichever name you give it, it’s a genre that’s been close to the hearts of generations of fans worldwide, and the Hair Nation Festival is proof that this music is still going strong and ready to rock!

Dokken adds a U.S. Date to the Upcoming Reunion Tour

Dokken Badlands Show 2016

Until now, it seemed that only audiences in Japan would have the opportunity to see a full reunion of the classic lineup of Dokken, when the “Unleashed In The East” six-show Japanese tour was recently announced. Now, the addition of a single U.S. date – taking place at Badlands Pawn in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on September 30th – gives American audiences that same opportunity. This South Dakota date is being called a “warm-up show”, kicking off the brief but long-awaited reunion of the classic 1980’s-era Dokken lineup, consisting of Don Dokken, George Lynch, Jeff Pilson, and “Wild” Mick Brown. Each band member also plans to hold a clinic for students at the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy during their time in Sioux Falls. The supporting act for this Badlands show is Gabbie Rae, a rising rock singer who has played the M3 Rock Festival, sharing the stage with many prominent names in rock and metal, and is also a part of the lineup for SiriusXM’s Hair Nation Festival on September 17th.

In a recent interview with The Classic Metal Show, Don Dokken suggested the possibility of a live DVD of the U.S. show being produced by the end of the year. Jeff Pilson confirmed via Twitter the plan to record this show, and also mentioned progress on a new song. Is new material from the classic lineup what lies ahead for Dokken, perhaps even beyond the tour? Only time will tell, and in the meantime, Dokken fans can head to the Badlands Pawn box office or http://www.badlandsboxoffice.com , and/or check out their other tour dates for “Unleashed In The East”:

Oct 5 – Osaka, Japan – Nama Hatch
Oct 6 – Fukuoka, Japan – Fukuoka Civic Hall
Oct 8 – Tokyo, Japan – Loud Park Festival
Oct 10 – Hiroshima, Japan – Bluelive Hiroshima
Oct 11 – Nagoya, Japan – Zepp Nagoya
Oct 12 – Tokyo, Japan – Zepp Divercity Tokyo

Tickets and VIP Experiences will be on sale August 27th, with the exception of the Loud Park Festival in Tokyo, tickets for which are already on sale via the following link: http://www.loudpark.com/16/. Loud Park is one of the largest annual heavy metal festivals in Japan, and other bands on the bill for this year include Whitesnake, Scorpions, Sixx:AM, Danger Danger, Armored Saint, The Dead Daisies, Queensryche, and many more.

Further information, including some upcoming tour dates for the current lineup of Dokken (with Jon Levin and Chris McCarvill on guitar and bass alongside Don Dokken and Mick Brown), can be found at http://www.dokken.net.

Rock Carnival Adds Headliners To Lineup

The Second Annual Rock Carnival, taking place on September 30, October 1 and October 2 at its new location in Lakewood, NJ at FirstEnergy Park, has announced the addition of two headliners to round out the lineup for the event known as The Northeast’s Only Classic Carnival + Rock n’ Roll Festival Experience.

While previous announcements regarding the festival revealed many of the weekend’s performers, only a small portion of the Sunday lineup had been announced to date, including such acts as Doro, Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, and Sebastian Bach, with some of the remaining guests left blank to be revealed at a later date. While several updates have been made to the lineup since its original release, now the headliners have been officially announced for Sunday, the third day of the Rock Carnival, and they are: Halestorm and The Used.

“ROCK CARNIVAL is very excited to finally announce Halestorm, The Used and the others who will help round out this year’s line-up,” states Rock Carnival producer John D’Esposito. “The festival outlined a plan that would deliver famous classic rock Friday, strong family friendly rock packaging Saturday and to close Sunday with active radio rock headliner. We put a strong emphasis on stacking the line up with New Jersey and immediate area acts who have had a long tradition of playing the infamous Jersey rock scene over years. Horns in the air, let’s get ready to rock!”

The Second Annual Rock Carnival also features the Friday headliner of the shock rock king, Alice Cooper, while Saturday marks the final area appearance of Twisted Sister in their official Tri-State farewell performance.

The Rock Carnival has reached a total of 50 Food Trucks and counting, and will also feature local art/entertainment, awareness and clothing vendors. Music will take place on multiple stages, including two main festival stages, side by side, on the field. Fans will have general admission access to the stadium field. The musical portion of the event will once again feature the Birch Hill stage, a very popular performance area, with the addition of another performance area showcasing developing artists.

The full lineup of the Rock Carnival is listed in the picture above, and can also be found on The Rock Carnival’s official website.

Ronnie James Dio Hologram Debuts at Wacken Open Air Music Festival

A great surprise awaited over 75,000 fans in attendance at the Wacken Open Air heavy metal festival in Germany last weekend as the Dio Disciples, consisting of the late Ronnie James Dio’s bandmates and friends, took to the stage to close out the show.  At the end of their set, the Dio Disciples were joined onstage by a special and rather unique guest – a hologram of Ronnie James Dio himself. Eyellusion, a hologram entertainment company focused on the live music market, created the hologram and produced the groundbreaking performance.

The world’s first rock hologram, Ronnie James Dio’s “performance” at Wacken Open Air is only the beginning for this production, as plans for future shows starting in 2017 are already in the works. The late Ronnie James Dio is well-loved among the Rock and Metal community, and the new hologram production, featuring the singer’s actual recorded live vocals, aims to keep his legacy alive.

“When I first experienced the full production of Ronnie performing with his band as a hologram, I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears,” said Wendy Dio, who manages Dio Disciples and is also a member of the Eyellusion team, supporting industry relations. “With Eyellusion, we have been able to get Ronnie back up on stage where he belongs, ensuring that his music and memory live on. I want Ronnie’s fans around the world to share this experience.”

“We know how much the fans miss Ronnie and the special and unequaled element that he brought to his live performances,” said Craig Goldy, lead guitarist for Dio Disciples. “Being able to recreate that same kind of magic for his fans at Wacken was incredible. For so many years Ronnie always invested big in his live shows as his way to give back to the fans, and that is exactly what we aimed to do with this latest performance. We can’t wait to bring this experience to even more of his fans and perhaps even a newer generation when we bring this incredible live experience on the road next year.”

“At first I did not know what to think or to expect. But after I got over the initial surprise, it felt like Ronnie was still with us. It was wonderful, sad and emotional,” stated David James of California, a fan present for the performance at Wacken Open Air.

“I have watched quite a few hologram clips online and nothing can compare to the performance here tonight at Wacken – this was the most realistic of all. Amazing! Ronnie James Dio and metal will live forever,” added Anna Lorenz, a 25-year-old fan from Germany, also in attendance.

“Eyellusion is creating the best hologram content and live music productions for a completely new concert experience,” said Jeff Pezzuti, CEO of Eyellusion. “We’re taking every step to capture the excitement and energy that comes from seeing your favorite band perform live. That means when the lights go down in the venue, the amps are loud, the band sounds great and the pyro is blinding. We are creating an entirely new way for fans to experience their favorite music.”

“The economics of making music are changing, with tours being more important than ever,” said Wendy Dio. “For artists who have been blessed with legions of fans around the world, the question is how to continue meeting the demand for your music. At the same time, newer acts are thinking about how to build a following and reach more people. Today, all artists need to find new, modern ways to connect with fans and Eyellusion is supporting those efforts.”
