W.A.S.P. Celebrate 25th Anniversary of “The Crimson Idol”

Facebooktwitterpinteresttumblr

In 1992, W.A.S.P. unleashed a concept album by the name of The Crimson Idol, telling the rise-and-fall story of a rock star. Plans to take this fictional story to the big screen were in place, and hundreds of hours of film were shot at the time to carry out the movie plans. Though there was enough footage made for a 50-minute film, it was never released. Now, 25 years after the release The Crimson Idol, Napalm Records has announced the upcoming release of Re-Idolized, a 25th Anniversary edition of the iconic album accompanied by the original The Crimson Idol movie on DVD and Blu-Ray for the first time ever.

The release date of this 25th Anniversary film and soundtrack bundle has yet to be revealed, but a Re-Idolized: The 25th Anniversary of The Crimson Idol world tour is already in place for November. For further updates, head to W.A.S.P. Nation.

Tengger Cavalry Release New Single “Cursed”

Facebooktwitterpinteresttumblr

You’d be hard pressed to find many bands that identify as a “nomadic folk metal” group, but it’s a title that Tengger Cavalry seems to have invented and claimed for themselves. The recent M-Theory Audio signees have their new record Die On My Ride coming up in just a few weeks, and two singles have been revealed so far, ahead of the June 2nd release. While the title track and “Ashley” both showcase different musical sides of the band, “Cursed” reveals yet another side. The official premiere is available to stream via Metal Hammer: http://teamrock.com/news/2017-05-17/mongolian-folk-metallers-tengger-cavalry-release-video-for-cursed

Here’s Tengger Cavalry frontman Nature G’s take on the meaning behind the track: “‘Cursed’ is about breaking barriers. Society has always put up different mental and physical barriers barring individuals just trying to achieve their dreams. You are too short, you are minority, you are a female not a man, you are from somewhere else, you don’t look good enough. All these disadvantages that we think we are born with, are like a curse to us. We are cursed for believing these barriers, aren’t we? No, we are not. We need to break this barrier of belief. We need to strike it and claim who we are supposed to be. Cursed, or rise above the curse.”

Die On My Ride will be released in digital and physical forms and is available for pre-order now here and here.

Tengger Cavalry also has a slew of tour dates coming up, with a North American tour kicking off the day after the record’s release, June 3rd, and summer European festival appearances to follow. All the info can be found at the band’s official website: http://www.tengger-cavalry.com

Michael Monroe to Release “The Best” on Spinefarm

Facebooktwitterpinteresttumblr

Former Hanoi Rocks frontman and renowned rock’n’roll solo artist Michael Monroe has a new release on the way, and it’s a big one – spanning 30 years worth of music, The Best will be the first official collection of Michael Monroe’s solo music career. There are countless bands who cite Hanoi Rocks as an influence, and Michael Monroe’s shown his talents over many forms of music and media, sharing stages with icons and making a lasting impression on the rock world. The Best will showcase prime tracks from the years 1987-2017.

According to Monroe, “This album is a great representation of my 30-year solo career, including four songs from the Little Steven-produced Demolition 23 album, which has been unavailable for over 20 years, plus some special rarities and previously unreleased bonus tracks…There’s a couple of extra special tracks like ‘It’s A Lie,’ sung as a duet with Stiv Bators (Dead Boys, Lords Of The New Church) back in 1985, and a never-before-released second version of the Steppenwolf cover ‘Magic Carpet Ride,’ featuring Slash, left over from the Coneheads soundtrack project that Slash did with me in 1993. And since Slash has the biggest heart of gold in rock ‘n’ roll, he was kind enough to allow me to use it on this album. God bless him!”

June 30th marks the release on Spinefarm Records. The record is available for pre-order now on Amazon (affiliate link) and iTunes (affiliate link).

Rough Cutt will include a performance of “Stars”, the iconic Hear ‘N Aid anthem from 1986, in their set. Unleash The Archers Unveil “The Matriarch” Music Video

Unleash the Archers

Unleash The Archers have “unleashed” a brand-new single, plus a video to go with it, this week. “The Matriarch” is the title of the track off the band’s tenth anniversary album Apex that’s set to be released via Napalm Records on June 2nd.

Frontwoman Brittney Slayes has released a statement telling fans all about the new song: “This track is chapter three in the story, and in it we are introduced to our antagonist “The Matriarch” in all her malevolent glory.  We call this one our “quick banger” because it’s fast, catchy, and fun, and hopefully it won’t take long to learn the words!  It is sung from an omniscient point of view, drawing the listener in with tales of The Matriarch’s depravity.  The best part is the bridge, because the song is so dark, and then it launches into this flowing wraithlike guitar melody that is so memorable, I sing along to it every time and I think the fans will too!  Absolutely cannot wait to play this one live  ;)”

Bravewords has the exclusive premiere of this new music video, which can be streamed through their site here. “The Matriarch” is not the first single to be revealed off the upcoming Apex – “Cleanse The Bloodlines” debuted recently, and Invisible Oranges had the exclusive premiere for that track about a month ago. Pre-orders for Apex are also available here: http://www.napalmrecordsamerica.com/store/unleashthearchers.
