Judas Priest has some big news, but it might not be quite the kind you might expect – it’s not a tour, not a new album, but a mobile game. Led by Sony Music Entertainment and entitled Judas Priest: Road to Valhalla, the iOS-friendly app is based around iconic Judas Priest songs, allowing players to unlock “stems” (in other words, pieces of the song such as vocals, guitars, and bass separately) and make their way to construct the full song. The game will also feature exclusive video clips of Rob Halford. You can see a trailer to get the gist of what to expect from the game here, and the mobile game app is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch via the app store here (Affiliate link).

Last but not least, a message straight from the band: “Metal maniacs are you ready to join Judas Priest on the Road To Valhalla…..? We are excited to have you take charge and lead the way on the bike and the tour bus! Let the molten metal mayhem begin with the thrill of the ride! Can you claim victory on this perilous journey that leads you into Valhalla…? Have a blast and enjoy! Rob, Glenn, Richie, Ian and Scott”.

Now, in just a matter of days, the recording of this performance will be released for fans to relive, or to see for the first time. Taking place on November 12th, 2016, Europe rocked the night at The Roundhouse, playing The Final Countdown album in its entirety, alongside their most recent album War of Kings, also performed in full. The monumental night was captured by Patric Ullaeus of rEvolver Film Company AB. L.A. Guns “Make You Want A Little More” in New Video

L.A. Guns

It’s been a long time coming, and fans have had their fair share of waiting for this announcement – L.A. Guns have just revealed a music video giving the first taste of their highly anticipated upcoming record The Missing Peace. Talk of this record has been in the air for a while, especially for those who have recently seen L.A. Guns live, where they’ve already debuted the track featured in this new clip. “Speed” is the name, and hard and heavy rock’n’roll is the game. The band has been on a worldwide trek for close to a year as part of the “L.A. Guns’ Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns Reloaded Reunion Tour”, and all bootleg concert footage aside, this music video marks the first official visual release featuring the current lineup. Blending the best of the classic unmistakeable L.A. Guns sound with just the right amount of a modern touch, “Speed” seems to be the perfect track to let the world know Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns are back, full-throttle with a forward thrust. Taking the drive along with them are the killer talents of guitarist Michael Grant, bassist Johnny Martin, and drummer Shane Fitzgibbon. You can check out all the action in “Speed” via the Frontiers Music srl YouTube Channel right here.

L.A. Guns have been met with rave reviews left and right (including from Metal Magnitude) ever since their high-energy live shows kicked off at full “speed”, leaving a “trail of burning tar”. The road is theirs, with plenty of US dates booked right up to the end of the year and beyond, plus a very special show at the Santiago Rock Festival alongside the likes of Aerosmith, Def Leppard, and The Who. October 13 marks the date The Missing Peace will be revealed in full to the world via Frontiers Music srl, and here’s some of what Tracii has to say about the record: “The Missing Peace is truly an album by definition. It’s a collection of music that I have been working on for about 12 years with various styles of rock music. From blues to classical influences, these are all hard-hitting songs. I am very proud of all of the contributions to this album by other members and writers. L.A. Guns fans are in for a treat”.

Though the release is still in far-off October, and we’re more than halfway there with a way to go, The Missing Peace is available for pre-order in Vinyl and CD forms through Frontiers Records’ Official Shop. For those who prefer the digital route, pre-orders are available via iTunes (affiliate link), featuring an instant download of the track “Speed”. Lynch Mob to Release “The Brotherhood”

RPR Lynch Mob

Lynch Mob has got a new album ready and raring to go on Rat Pak Records. The Brotherhood has recently been announced as the latest effort from the band, and though we’ve yet to get a sonic taste, plenty of details have already been revealed. September 8th marks the official release date, and the eleven track record was produced by Chris “The Wizard” Collier, whose credits include previous work on Lynch Mob records in addition to Prong, Flotsam & Jetsam, and even another Rat Pak artist – KXM. The Brotherhood will follow Lynch Mob’s 2015 release and most recent studio album, Rebel. Vocalist Oni Logan says of the album, “After doing quite a few miles together with this latest line-up of Sean McNabb and Jimmy D’Anda, we consider ourselves a pack of wolves, and we came up with the name ‘The Brotherhood’ for the title of the next Lynch Mob album. It’s got more of an adventurous sound in part and maybe a darker, colder sound to it. We are always willing to go farther. We come from the early 90’s and it’s when we released the first Lynch Mob album which set a sound and course for us. Here we are 27 years later, George and I are still able to keep on stretching. As a player, as a writer, that is very important to us. Otherwise we would be fooling ourselves and fooling you”.

As for George Lynch’s take on the record, he says, “We wrote this album as a band and the name of the record reflects what the band is about, and what all my bands have been about since I’ve been a kid. This is my second family. These are my brothers. You go through a lot together and have a lot of experiences together. And that then becomes a part of the music.”

The Brotherhood is available for pre-order from Rat Pak Records in the form of various bundles, and you can find all the options through the label’s webstore. For more info, plus further details and updates, head to https://www.facebook.com/LynchMobBand/.

Satyricon Announce Ninth Studio Album

Satyricon (Photo by Marius Viken)

Norwegian Black Metal band Satyricon had a big announcement to make this week – their first studio record in four years. Following their Norwegian Charts topping self-titled 2013 record Satyricon, the band now presents Deep calleth upon Deep, set for a September 22nd release on Napalm Records. Satyricon rejoined a former collaborator, Canadian producer Mike Fraser, for the recording and mixing of Deep calleth upon Deep earlier this year. Fraser also worked with the band on their 2006 record, Now, Diabolical. If there’s one thing that Deep calleth upon Deep promises to be, it’s a renewal of the Satyricon sound. According to frontman Satyr, “Approaching this release, what I always kept in mind is that either this is the beginning of something new or it’s gonna be my last record.  If this is going to be the last, then it needs to be something special.  If there are more records, then I’d better make sure that this is so different from the last one that it feels like a new beginning.  I think it’s really, really dark, very spiritual and filled with confidence and energy”.

Samples or singles from the record have yet to be released, as the most we’ve been told so far are some of the album details. The cover art has also been revealed, consisting of a little-known drawing by the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (see below). On the meaning of the title, Satry says: “The way that I see it is that for any art, be it Satyricon or any other form of art with substance, in order for you to be able to inhale and completely understand it, it will take a little bit of you as well.  If you get it all after a couple of listens, you know that it probably won’t stay with you.  So the title is saying, ‘From the depth of the people making this record to the depth of the listener…’  If you want to take part in this journey, you should be prepared to dig deep down in the darkest corner of your soul with us”. Satyricon will make quite a few festival appearances this summer, then set out on a European run of dates throughout the Fall, following the release. Venom Prison is a band out of the UK who recently grabbed the title of “Best New Band” from the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. The group is now bringing a hardcore hometown house show to their growing fanbase in a new clip for the track “Perpetrator Emasculation”. You can see the exclusive premiere via Decibel Magazine. This track is off Venom Prison’s debut Animus, the Prosthetic Records album that they’ve been touring in support of for close to a year now since its release. According to frontwoman Larisa Stupar, “Venom Prison grew from a grass roots hardcore scene, and have no intention of forgetting where we have come from. VP recently decided to do a home town show at a secret location and as you can see, it was intense. Living in a time where music venues close down or just aren’t affordable for underground promoters and bands, supporting your local scene is very important as it helps expanding musical boundaries and help to evolve the bands involved in it. Hopefully this footage from “Perpetrator Emasculation” spreads word that shows like this are going on all over the world in DIY spaces.”
