“KillThrax” Openers Announced
The highly-anticipated “KillThrax” tour approaches, and now the bands who will join two heavy co-headliners have been announced. KillThrax is a North American tour that was announced last month which pairs together Big Four Thrashers Anthrax with the band known as forefathers of Metalcore, Killswitch Engage. The Devil Wears Prada will be the main support for all dates on the tour, while Code Orange takes on a slot along the way – but not before Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta goes solo to open the first 10 dates.
The tour is presented by SiriusXM and spans the spring, starting on March 29th in NJ and closing on May 7th in MA. Anthrax and Killswitch Engage will close on a rotating basis during the tour, but there are also two solo shows for both bands where each will headline without the other.
It’s not only fans who are on edge waiting for the start of the tour. Anthrax band members have also weighed in on their thoughts looking toward it. “Anthrax and Killswitch will be a really good blend for fans,” said Anthrax’s Charlie Benante. “We both play metal, but we play two different forms of the genre. I think fans of both bands are in for a ‘Total Explosion of the Senses.'” Frank Bello asserts, “This Anthrax/KSE tour is a powerful ball of energy ready to unleash the metal in the U.S.”
Scott Ian adds, “Anthrax and Killswitch — KillThrax! Holy crap! I am so excited about these upcoming shows with our old friends Killswitch Engage. Get out your pit pants and start stretching now for all the glorious action and fun!”
Killswitch Engage frontman, Jesse Leach, also chimed in with exclamations of his excitement toward the tour: “We are so stoked to tour with thrash legends Anthrax! We are sure this will bring a powerhouse of a live show with the combination of both bands. This is, hands down, the most excited we’ve been to tour alongside a band in a long while. This will be one you won’t want to miss. KillThrax is coming for you!!!!”
Jamey Jasta has been keeping busy with Hatebreed, and he has also expressed how he’s looking forward to some KillThrax touring: “I rarely get to tour with Jasta and since the rest of my year is booked up with Hatebreed tours, I jumped at the chance to hit the road and debut some new Jasta songs with some of my favorite people in metal. Not only is the tour hitting some of my favorite cities to play, the lineup offers something for every generation of metal and hardcore fan. Come out early and get the pit started with us!”
